The Forest berries set

Forest berries headband and scarf set

This headband and scarf set is made in the lemon peel stitch, a very simple stitch made up of the basic stitches single crochet and double crochet (US terms), but still gives a very beautiful result. Especially in the combination of yarns I have used here, one thread of merino and one thread of silk mohair yarn. You may also use other combinations.

Yarn: Mayflower Easy Care Classic (DK weight) & Isager Silk Mohair (lace weight), held together (2 strands). You can exchange it for an aran weight yarn (17-18 sts per 10 cm/4 inches).

Headband: Made to measure Scarf: One size

Chainless dc: sc into the st, sc again through the front post of the sc you just made (you make one sc on top of the other).

Headband

You need: 100 g of the DK-weight yarn, and 25 g of the lace weight.

Start by measuring your head circumference. The finished length of your headband, before sewing, should be around 6 cm less than that number.

With two strands held together, chain 22

Row 1: Sc in 4th ch from hook, *dc, sc*, repeat until end and sc into last st, turn (20 sts).

Row 2: Chainless dc in the first st, *sc, dc*, repeat until end, end with a sc.

Repeat row 2 until the length you have set for yourself.
Cut off the yarn but leave a 15-20 cm thread to sew the headband together.

Sewing: Fold the short ends of the headband in half, and fold the two short ends into each other, so that they overlap. Sew along the short side, through the 4 layers with backstitch, back and forth once. Attach the loose ends.

Scarf

You need: 150 g of the DK-weight yarn, and 50 g of the lace-weight. With 2 threads held together, chain 30.

Row 1: Work in “bump” under the chains: sc in 4th ch from hook, *dc, sc*, repeat until end, turn (28 sts).

Row 2: Chainless dc in the first st, *sc, dc*, repeat until end, end with a sc (on this row this will be made in the top chain).

Continue as row 2 for 29 rows or 30 cm.

Row 30: Chainless dc in the first st, sc, dc, sc, dc, sc, ch 15 and skip 15 sts, sc into dc from last row, dc, sc, dc, sc, dc and sc into last st, turn.

Row 31: 2: Chainless dc in the first st, *sc, dc*, repeat until end and over the chained sts, end with a sc.

Continue working as row 2 for 104 rows or 80 cm.
