2-coloured coasters

These coasters are super easy to make, but give you a fun challenge with the 2-coloured edge. Adapt them to the season by adapting the colour combinations. Here they are shown in a Christmas themed-colourway.

  1. Make a magic ring

2. Row 1: Ch 3, 15 dc in the circle and close with a slip stitch in the 3rd chain = 16 dc (counting the 3 ch as the first dc).

3. Row 2: Ch 3, dc in the same place, continue with 2dc in every st all around, close with a sl st = 32 sts.

4. Row 3: Ch 3, dc 2 in next, *dc 1 in next st, dc 2 in next st*, repeat until the end and close with a sl st = 48 sts.

5. Row 4: Ch 3, dc 1 in next, dc 2 in next, * dc 1 in next 2 sts, dc 2 in next st*, repeat until the end and close with a sl st.

6. Row 5: Time to add a second colour, so have your second colour ready! With colour 1, ch 3, skip 1 st and start making a dc in next st, but do not pull through the last time. Instead, pick up your contrast colour and pull through with the new thread. Now, dc in first st (leave 1 stitch unworked in the middle), over that st, but do not pull through the last time, instead change to colour 1. Again, skip 1 st and start making a dc in the next st, but do not pull through the last time, instead pull through with the contrast colour. Repeat until you reach the end, close with a sl st in the first dc (not ch 3).
